The Peruvian government is looking to create a sports culture in the country aiming to strengthen the practice of different disciplines, as well as physical activities, throughout a series of interventions in educational institutions and recreational areas.

According to the minister of education, Daniel Alfaro, the people who play sports in the country contribute to the well-being of people. “In addition, it is a noble cause that two important institutions, such as the IPD (Peruvian Sports Institute) and the Fire Department, come together to achieve this successful event”, he told El Peruano.

This information was given during the IPD 8k race starting ceremony, which raised a donation of 60,000 soles for the General Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Peru where 2,500 athletes participated.

Víktor Preciado, vice president of the IPD board, said that his institution has the function of promoting sports.
