The Peruvian Pisco brand, Demonio de los Andes from Tacama Winery, was recognized in New York, the United States as the “Best Clear Spirit”, part of the Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
The event took place on April 15 and the Peruvian Pisco triumphed over other competitors from 45 countries, according to information from Peru.info.
“The distillate from Ica scored 96 points out of a possible 100, earning it the Chairman’s Trophy for its category. Meanwhile, Demonio de los Andes Quebranta finished runner-up with 94 points”, the aforementioned website said.
This is the first time that Tacama Winery participated in this competition, but it’s not the first win for them. They won in 2016 the National Pisco Contest in Peru with Demonio de los Andes Acholado Pisco.
“Tacama named this distillate after the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Carbajal, who was known as the ‘Demonio de los Andes’ (Demon of the Andes) and took part in the civil war between conquistadors in Peru”, Peru.info informed.
