Situated in front of the famous Kennedy Park in the popular neighborhood Miraflores, Ágora offers a comfortable space, quaint library, artisan gift shop, fantastic coffee specialties and homemade desserts.

Mariana Jerónimo, the owner of Ágora, says that she and her partner started the business three years ago, working with an organic coffee -a blend of Chanchamayo and Villa Rica- that they use to make more than ten different types of coffee drinks. “Culture of good coffee in Peru is increasing and it’s valuable for everyone in the business”.

The Coffee And Tea

They work with fresh milk and a soy option is always available for both their hot and cold drinks. Some of the more creative drinks they produce are the: coffee frappe, that comes with algarrobina, and the chill café, an imitation of the chilcano, with ice, lemon, and soda which we found very refreshing. Teas are also available and you can order them hot or cold. They make their own blends and look for new aromas and experiences by combining green and black tea.

We tried the England Lovers tea, with hibiscus, cherry, apple, and grape, and loved it. Next time, we want to try the ginger tea.

The Food

The menu offers classic sandwiches (Caprese, chicken, cheese, and ham) but the criollo sandwich with baked pork won us over. The quiches (S/ 12), are soft and tasty, and they come in two options: mushroom or spinach.
In the morning, they have many options for the breakfast (each one includes a coffee and the juice of the day). A lot of people come to Ágora for it and/or for a coffee to go. The afternoon, however, offers a nice respite from the labors of the day and we recommend relaxing with a tea on their second floor (quiet and comfortable, with a nice view).

The Desserts

The homemade desserts are perfect for their level of sweetness and you can tell they are made with good ingredients. The best example is the cheesecake (S/ 14). We tried the maracuyá one but they change every week.

Sublime Chocolate Cake (Photo: Maria Alejandra Baraybar/Traveling & Living in Peru)

The Sublime chocolate cake is made with cacao, ganache, and bitter chocolate, with pieces of peanuts. The brownie (S/ 5) comes with an ice cream ball and the waffles come with strawberries and kiwi, and is bathed in chocolate.

What We Thought Overall

Agora is a specialty coffee place, but soon could be known for the desserts and the kindness of their team. You will also appreciate their music!

Bonus: Ask for the dessert of the day.
