Peru’s soccer team technical director, Ricardo Gareca, said that the new focus is on the upcoming friendly matches ahead of the South American qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup in 2022 and the Pan American Games in Lima this year.
In his first press conference after the Copa America ended a little more than a week ago, Gareca said that the upcoming friendly games will be against Brazil on September 10 in the United States, then against Uruguay in October.
“The South American qualifiers begin in March of 2020 and culminate in 2021”, El Universo informed, adding that those players who stand out in the Pan American Games in Lima will be summoned for the national team.
The Peruvian team in the Pan American Games will be directed by Gareca’s assistant, the former Peruvian national team player Nolberto Solano, who has called players from the U-20.
