Peru’s foreign affairs minister, Nestor Popolizio, concluded his visit to China. In this ocassion, the objective was to meet with the Chinese goverment and strengthen ties between the two countries.
In past days, the presidency of the Council of Ministers authorized the trip, scheduled between August 26th and August 28th.
In this order, they worked to evaluate and project new perspectives for the strategical plan 2016-2021. The agenda included topics related to relevant areas to the Peruvian economy such as trade, cooperation and investment.
On Monday, Popolizio was with China’s Vice President, Wang Qishan. The encounter was hosted at the Zhongnanhai Purple Light Pavilion, the headquarters of China’s central government. Wang emphasized about their strong bond based on the presence of the Chinese community in Peru, since long ago. The Asian nation is also the most important commercial partner of Peru.
Wang called on both sides to continue to deepen mutual understanding and trust as an opportunity to maintain close communication, and continue working in a pragmatic and beneficial cooperation for the two countries.
At the end of the day, Popolizio met Ning Jizhe, Vice Chairman of the National Development & Reform Commission of China, to preside the Strategic Dialogue Mechanism for Economic Cooperation.
On tuesday, the Minister was set to meet with his Chinese collegue Wang Yi and hold a press conference. Both representatives offered conclussions and a brief about the visit.
During the absence of the foreign affair’s minister, the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Carlos Oliva is in charge.
