Local soccer hooligans kill young woman in Peru

Family and relatives of Maria Paola Vargas Ortiz (24), who died last weekend after an alleged attack from soccer hooligans, asked the witnesses of the incident to go to the National Police and testify, in order to find the people responsible for this crime.

According to some press reports, a massive bunch of hooligans got onto a public bus and pushed Maria Paola out of it, making her fall down into the pavement.

She suffered a severe blunt trauma on her head and died several hours later --of brain hemorrhage-- at a public hospital.

"I know there must be witnesses of this crime. As a father, I ask them to please go to the Police and provide this information; we cannot be indifferent at these moments," said Humberto Vargas (Paola's father) to a local TV program.

He also told the press that according to his daughter's wishes, the family proceeded to donate her organs once cerebral death was confirmed.

Local soccer hooligans' violence is a quite a big problem in Peru, and authorities seem yet unable to take care of this situation.

If the police cannot make it safe for people to enjoy the soccer game without the fear of getting killed, attacked. or robbed then soccer should be ban in Lima.

People like these give our game a bad name. It's too bad they can blend so easily into the crowd out on the street once the crowd disperses. And the driver should also face justice for having allowed these scum to board the overloaded bus in the first place, just for extra fares.

I totally agree with Dennis. Soccer should be ban in Lima.

DG no one cares if you knew this girl or your fiance knew her, it is not relevant to this discussion

The fans are all hooligans and the team owners don't pay their taxes.  What a great combo.

Kevin: No one cares what you think of DG's comment, and what you wrote is not relevant to this discussion.

Kevin when it comes to the passing of someone in a tragic accident, your remarks only defame the situation.  Further, I was the first to comment therefore your accusation of not relevant to the discussion would lack the BUT-FOR qaulifier and is thus NULL.

My comment was purely out of sympathy and wishing for a just result from an injust situation that happened to a close friend fo my fiancee.  There is nothing wrong or irrelevant about that.
