After our last visit to Cerveceria del Valle Sagrado, we wanted to check in with our favorite taproom and learn about their new collaboration.
The last time we went to Cerveceria del Valle Sagrado’s taproom, we had an amazing visit with co-founder, Juan Mayorga, who explained the story of this award-winning artisanal beer. This time, we went to see how things have changed since the pandemic as well as try some of the chancaca flavored stouts.

We had a lovely visit with Daniel who at the Miraflores taproom. He explained to us that although the pandemic happened only a few months after this taproom opened, they still managed to successfully get through the hardest times by some clever changes. One of those changes was to start bottling the artisanal beer. This was a shift for the company to make because co-founder, Juan, is very eco-friendly and was never in favor of bottling. However, it became important so that the beer could be more portable to people’s homes. Speaking of which, they also created a delivery system so that it would be much more accessible than before.
Limited Edition Designed Bottles

For the bottles, they needed to have a great design that would inspire consumers. They teamed up with famous Peruvian artist, Fito Espinosa, to create lovely designs for the bottles of two limited edition brews, which are also featured at the Fito Espinosa museum in Miraflores.
We had a taste of one of the exclusive: Barricas y Alma. This is a strong stout that is a warm blend of chancaca and chocolate. Chancaca is a natural sweetener made from unrefined sugar found across Peru that could pass as honey. The blend itself is great for sipping and would be perfect for a cool winter evening.

Another that we tried, which was my favorite, was the Anniversario. This is an ale that literally tasted like a Christmas party in my mouth. There was some spice in it and was a deep amber color. It wasn’t too strong and not too light, so it was a perfect balance for the average beer drinker.
While you’re there, make sure to try their delicious food menu. Their tacos and choclo con queso were incredible!
In Lima you can find them in their taproom: Miraflores, Calle 2 De Mayo 508, and in Central restaurant, Wingman restaurant, Pan de la chola bakery.
